Mike Ballinger’s experience in forestry is centralized in the management of non-industrial private lands, with a short sabbatical procuring timber for a major supplier of solid wood products in the Southside area of Virginia. In 1984, Mike began working in what was to become one of the most influential landowner assistance programs in the southeastern United States. When the program was terminated, Mike entered the procurement field where he purchased timber for a wood supplier, keeping three to five logging contractors working for five years.
